Dakota Cultural Tour
 of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota

Bus leaves at 8:15 a.m. and returns at 4:00 p.m.

Experience the sacred ancestral grounds of the Dakota People who have lived in this area for thousands of years. We will travel by bus to visit a number of historic and spiritual Dakota Indian sites in Minneapolis and St. Paul. This tour will be lead by Ramona Stately, consultant with the Minnesota Humanities Society and enrolled member of the Santee Sioux Nation. She is a Dakota arts and culture teacher in Osseo, Minnesota. The price is $55.

  • Tour Indian Mounds Park in St. Paul and learn about its spiritual and cultural significance to the Dakota people.
  • Visit Historical Fort Snelling and hear about the rich history of the Dakota People from an indigenous point of view.
  • Visit Bdote, “Where the Two Waters Meet,” in Fort Snelling State Park, the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota River. Experience the Dakota Memorial Site and Pike Island. (A short hike is an option.) Conclude our time with Stately.
  • Enjoy lunch at the Gathering Café in the Minneapolis Native American Indian Center with Native Chef Austin Bartold.
  • Visit the Native American Indian Center and Art Gallery and learn about the center that serves the needs of urban Indians in Minneapolis with director Mary LaGarde-Agnew.
  • Learn about the Native Women’s Resource Center and visit the Indigenous Medicine Garden in the heart of the city.
