Dental health has been recently shown to be related to overall health as well as an enhanced quality of life. It is especially important to an older population which did not have the benefits of community fluoridation. New strategies are available to restore appearance, comfort, and function to a damaged dentition or to maintain dentition in spite of health or dexterity changes as one ages. Respectful cooperation between dentist and patient assures an optimal and satisfying outcome. -Marlyn Barber
