Speaker: Jim Davnie, Minnesota State Representative, District 63 A

“For Minnesota to be successful, we need all of our kids to be successful,” reports Davnie. He is the chief author of the anti-bullying bill which would change the way school districts handle, report, and prevent bullying.

Davnie will share how he plans to get the Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act passed during the 2014 Minnesota Legislative Session. -Shirley McKinney

Speaker: Tamara L. Gray, Educational Consultant for Curriculum, Administrative Support, Teacher Training, and Sensitivity Training

Born and educated in Minnesota, Tamara Gray moved to Syria in 1993, where she lived and worked for twenty years.

Gray worked with schools across the Middle East, in Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Syria. She will give us a general overview of what is happening in Syria and the educational system based on post-colonial Syria. -Noelyn Porter

In November 2012, Bill McKibben and 350.org started a movement to address the threat of the climate crisis. The planet is in danger because we’ve poured too much carbon into the atmosphere. Global warming is happening faster than ever, and humans are responsible by releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Shown on Earth Day around the world, Do the Math is a documentary film about the rising movement to change the terrifying math of the climate crisis and challenge the fossil fuel industry. -Kay Kessel and Shari Parsons
