Speaker: Hampton Smith, Civil War Specialist, Minnesota Historical Society Reference Staff

The Christie brothers volunteered for the First Minnesota Light Artillery, working as “cannoneers,” loading and aiming big guns at the Confederate rebels. Our speaker has edited and published a book of their letters which were sent home. He will describe the brothers’ vivid record of fighting, their doubts, and differing perspectives. -Lynne Benz
