Keller’s remarks will focus on the current immigration system and how Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is functioning. He will argue for a permanent solution for youth and their parents and why our best chance for comprehensive immigration reform is in 2013.

Cindy Reuther, Executive Director, Laura Jeffrey Academy
STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. As one of few gender-focused middle schools in the United States, Laura Jeffrey Academy is an innovative, urban charter school in St. Paul, offering a unique twelve-month educational experience for grades five through eight. Cindy will share with us her passion for the school and why STEM is so important for girls.

Juvenile Justice
Judge Margaret A. Daly, Fourth Judicial District Judge
Daly will explain how the Juvenile Court is structured in Hennepin County and will summarize juvenile delinquency and child protection laws and procedures. She will describe some of the current trends and challenges in these areas as well as major initiatives that have been implemented in our court system such as the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) and Crossover. For those who are interested in serving as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, she will have information about that opportunity.
