LITERATURE DISCUSSION Heritage Room
History of Wolves by Emily Fridlund
Discussion Leader: Julie Ollila
Linda, aka Madeline, is a lonely 14-year-old girl living
in an isolated community, with few human connections
since her parents’ commune broke apart several years
ago. By a strange circumstance, she meets a young
family with a very precocious four-year-old boy, Paul.
She becomes his primary caretaker, but eventually has
to testify at the parents’ trial for manslaughter, following
Paul’s tragic death. Many interesting characters inhabit
this story, as Linda describes how Paul’s death haunts
her throughout her life.
