THE CLASSIC AND JAZZY NUTCRACKER
featuring Carrie Vecchione (oboe) and Rolf Erdahl (bass) Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker is performed around the world each year. This program explores the history of this masterpiece, a brief outline of Tchaikovsky’s life and music, and the path of the Nutcracker story from page to stage. Finally, a rousing finale as the familiar melodies are compared to the jazzed-up versions by the great Duke Ellington.
