9:30 – 10:30 The Federal Reserve: Reflections on a Career in Central Banking

Speaker: James M. Lyon, First Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer,
Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis

Lyon will retire in March after spending 41 years in the inner circle of the Federal Reserve Banking system. He will reflect on the changes for the Fed over that time and comment on some of the challenges that he sees for the Fed and the economy generally going forward.

Speaker: C. Ford Runge, Distinguished McKnight University Professor of
Applied Economics and Law

Recent attention to globalized trade and trade agreements between nations such as NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) have highlighted many benefits and problems with these agreements. Dr. Runge will give us a quick Trade 101 to help us understand the pros and cons for Minnesota.
