Eating disorders are becoming increasingly common in our society and afflict people of all genders and all ages. We live in a culture that highly values appearance and will go to any length to achieve perfection of body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Gallivan will discuss the complexity of this puzzling disorder, citing causation, treatment, current research trends, and outcomes associated with state-of-the-art treatments.

The Price of Things and the Price of Currency: Making Sense of the World of Finance

Speaker: Dr. King Banaian, Dean of the School of Public Affairs, Professor of Economics, St. Cloud State University

Dr. Banaian will explain how, as our world becomes more interconnected, the currencies and goods that matter become different. He will discuss how the cost of oil, agricultural goods, and government debt caused changes that have brought some stock markets to their knees. He will provide the backstory to help us understand the chaos in today’s financial world.
