    A composer, fleeing an empty existence, takes a journey to one of the few remaining areas of the world not yet touched by civilization – the upper reaches of a great South American River. The book describes his search for self worth and meaning, and the remarkable decision he makes in a village that seems to be truly outside history.

    Sharon Bigot will demonstrate Brazilian and Japanese embroidery. We’ll compare these two very different forms of embroidery. There will be an opportunity to make a Brazilian rose. Please bring your own embroidery work to share.

Critical Role of Nursing: Keeping Persons Healthy in their Home

Speaker: Connie White Delaney, Professor and Dean, School of Nursing, University of Minnesota

Health professionals face unprecedented challenges in meeting health care needs of older adults, increased number of persons of all ages seeking health care, and the desire to refocus health care on wellness and disease prevention. Delaney will highlight the nurse’s role in meeting these challenges and share resources available to us to maintain our health and independence.

Doodles and Books with Nancy Carlson

Speaker: Nancy Carlson, Children’s Book Author and Illustrator

“Teaching kids about themselves with fun drawings and a few good words,” has been Carlson’s focus as an author. She has published more than 60 books and visits over 150 classrooms each year, touching the lives of thousands of children across the country. Her recent book, Armond Goes to a Party: A book about Asperger’s and Friendship will be available for purchase.
