MOTHER EARTH: Land Conservation in Minnesota: Opportunities and Challenges

Saving America’s favorite places for nearly 30 years, The Conservation Fund has protected 7 million acres of land and water in all 50 states, from the park down the street to historic battlefields, wild areas, and favorite destinations of all kinds. Purchasing land including an area by Detroit Lakes to protect the yellow winged warbler, restoring prairie land for western Minnesota cattle ranchers, protecting lakeshore in Brainerd, and working with the DNR and the state legislature regarding School Trust Lands. -Jeanne Bearmon

How does one become a poet? Does a poet know from early childhood that she must write poetry, or does the realization creep up on her, or does she have a sudden epiphany that this is her destiny? How have people or events influenced poetry? How does one become Minnesota Poet Laureate, and what are the responsibilities of that office?
