Speaker: Arthur Erdman, PhD, Director, Medical Devices Center, Morse Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering, University of Minnesota
The amalgam of technology and medicine has pushed the boundary of what can and cannot be done in all fields of medicine. Erdman will talk about, among other things, the importance of medical devices, virtual prototyping/testing systems, and FDA interest in new technologies. JUSTICE: Impact of the Minnesota Prosperity (Dream) Act

Speaker: John Keller, Executive Director, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM)
Recent passage of the Minnesota Prosperity (Dream) Act established legislation that the Immigration Law Center of Minnesota has long sought for its clients who are low-income immigrants and refugees. This kind of justice ILCM calls “sound public policy that protects the universal rights of immigrants and is both compassionate and practical.” Keller will update us on current local and national immigration law efforts, review the benefits of Minnesota’s “Dream Act,” and introduce us to a young immigrant who will describe how such laws impact and change lives. -Geri Burns

Speaker: Sondra Samuels, CEO of Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ)
As President and CEO of Northside Achievement Zone, Samuels leads a partnership of 24 community organizations and nine schools that work together toward a single goal – to prepare low-income North Minneapolis children to graduate from high school and be ready for college. Samuels will describe the revolutionary culture shift in North Minneapolis that is focused on ending multi-generational poverty through education with a cradle-to-career approach. -Mindy Rechelbacher
