  In this very unusual story, we read about a young girl’s struggle to discover herself. After a childhood spent in the foster-care system, her only connection to the world was through flowers and their meanings. In Victorian times, the language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions.

Health: Memory Café: Dealing with Dementia

A Memory Café is an informal social organization that offers a safe and supportive setting for individuals and their caregivers struggling with many forms of dementia. Groups are interactive and offer respite from the routines and issues relating to the impairment. Speaker: Brenda Langton, Author and Chef/Owner of Spoonriver

Brenda Langton reigns not only over Spoonriver, her café near the Guthrie, but also the next-door Mill City Farmers Market, which she founded. She will describe her beginnings as a cook at Commonplace Collective Restaurant and her ownership of Café Kardemena and Café Brenda. Her food is local, healthy, and delicious.
