What is Happening to the Bees

Speaker:  Dr. Marla Spivak, Distinguished McKnight Professor,
University of Minnesota

Honey bees have been disappearing at alarming rates in recent years.  They are essential to healthy ecosystems and are pollinators of a third of the United States food supply.  Marla Spivak, an entomologist, is developing practical applications to protect honey bee populations from decimation, while making fundamental contributions to our understanding of bee biology.

East Meets West: How Traditional Chinese Medicine Enhances
Health Care in the 21st Century

Speaker:  Dr. Pam Weiss, Acupuncturist

Dr. Pam Weiss will describe using traditional Chinese medicine therapies including acupuncture, acupressure, external QiGong healing, and Tui Na, a form of massage, to enhance health care in the 21st century.

AAUW’s energetic marionette out-reach program participants are eager to entertain both the young and young-at-heart with this year’s production. The Minneapolis Branch has maintained a marionette troupe for over 40 years.
